What’s the first thing you think of when you hear the word “cake”? My favorite has always been the cake with several layers of cream and biscuits, which takes at least a few hours to prepare. Especially if the biscuits need to be baked separately.

I love those “complicated” cakes too, but I prefer when things are simpler. Just mix the ingredients, and that’s it. You have a cake on your table. For this reason, this homemade walnut cake “blew” me away. Baking is not required, the only thing that needs to be done is to cook the cream.

But also, the cream is so simple to prepare that anyone can make this cake. The unusual layers of the cake consist of only three ingredients: nuts (walnuts, hazelnuts, etc.), biscuits, and butter. That’s why you’ll get an amazing dessert with a nutty-creamy taste in just half an hour. Here’s what you need:

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED: 150 g of nuts, 100-150 g of butter, 300 g of plasma biscuits (or of your choice), 50 g of flour, 150 g of dark chocolate, 50 g of butter, 130 g of sugar, 3 eggs, 300 ml of sweet cream (33%), 300 ml of milk, 10 g of vanillin sugar (1 bag), 4 bananas

Preparation: In a saucepan, beat the eggs with the sugar until it melts and thickens, then add the vanilla and flour, then beat well until the mixture is smooth. Add the milk and cream (33%), then put on medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until it thickens.

Put the cream aside, add the chopped chocolate into cubes and 50 g of butter, then stir until it all melts and is incorporated into the mixture. Set the cream aside to cool, stirring occasionally so that a crust does not form on top, or cover it with foil.

In a dry pan, toast the walnuts over moderate heat until they start to release their aroma and smell nice. Let them cool, then chop them finely in a blender or grind them. Grind the biscuits as well, then combine them with the walnuts. Add the remaining melted butter to the mixture. The mixture should have the consistency of wet sand.

Line a springform cake pan (22 cm/8.6 in) with cling film. Divide the biscuit mixture into 4 equal parts and the cream into 3 equal parts. Peel the bananas and cut them into rounds (make sure they are of the same thickness).

Pour the first layer of crumbs, spread it evenly on the bottom, and press lightly with a spoon or the bottom of a glass to level it. Then spread the cream and put the bananas on top. Apply the layers alternately, repeat the procedure, and finish with a biscuit layer of walnuts.

Cover the cake with cling film and refrigerate to set for at least 4 hours. Before serving, remove the ring and foil. Useful advice: Do not grind the nuts too much, leave some large pieces. If you wish, you can also decorate with fresh berries. You can replace the bananas with some other fruit for a completely different taste. The preparation details can be found HERE.
