This recipe can be found for sure in your mother’s or grandmother’s cookbook because it is old but gold. It is known to many as “cake without eggs” or “cocoa cubes”. The name of the cake is not so important because it is so delicious and juicy that the only thing you will think about is taking another slice.

The cake is made with just a few components that you probably already have in your home, and the recipe couldn’t be simpler or quicker. The dessert is made with sugar, flour, yogurt, and cocoa; it is then covered in chocolate glaze and topped with whipped cream or chocolate shavings. There are various recipes for this cake, but they are all essentially the same and vary just slightly. We’ll give you examples of two of them:

I RECIPE by Milushka Gojkovic: “My dears, yesterday my children were visiting. We were having lunch, and I thought that I was done with the cooking for the day. But my grandson wanted dessert. Like any grandma, I immediately got up and made this simple but very delicious recipe.

Ingredients needed (measured with a 180 g cup): 3 cups of sugar, 3 cups of flour, 3 cups of yogurt or sour milk, 1/2 or 1 cup of oil, 2 teaspoons of baking soda, and 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder (I added a handful of chopped walnuts). FOR THE GLAZING: 100 g of chocolate, 100 g of margarine, 10 tablespoons of sugar, and 100 ml of milk

Preparation: Combine all of the ingredients in a large bowl and blend with a mixer until the mixture is homogeneous. If adding chopped or ground nuts, add them at the very end and stir them in with a spoon. Beat for no more than 5 minutes.

Pour the prepared mixture into a medium-sized pan previously greased with butter, then put it in a well-heated oven at 180–200 degrees for about 20 minutes. While the cake is still hot, pour over it a hot chocolate glaze (all the listed ingredients are melted over steam or low heat). The second recipe:

II recipe – ingredients required: 3 cups of yogurt (3×180 g), 300 g of flour, 250 g of sugar, 120 ml of oil, 25 g of cocoa, 2 teaspoons of baking soda, and butter for greasing the baking sheet. FOR THE GLAZING: 150 g of butter, 150 g of cooking chocolate, 120 g of sugar, and 120 ml of milk

Preparation: In a large bowl, combine the yogurt, flour, sugar, oil, cocoa, and baking soda. Beat with an electric mixer for two to three minutes. Bake the mixture for about 20 minutes at 200 degrees in a preheated oven in a 20×30 cm baking dish that has been already greased with butter.

For the glazing, melt the butter, then remove it from the heat. Add the chopped chocolate, the sugar, and the milk, then mix until you get a smooth mixture. The cake should be cooled before the chocolate glaze is applied. If berries are in season, you can serve the cake with berries as well as whipped cream.
